  • Ruud not to

A wee smile for Ruud van Nistelrooy after that opener…

  • 21 – GOAL!! Brentford 0-1 LEICESTER

The Foxes take the lead at the G-Tech and FACUNDO BUONANOTTE has it.

Ethan Pinnock looks to be in control of a through ball looking for Vardy but the defending from him is as weak as you know what.

He stumbles and Vardy knocks the ball across goal and Buonanotte can’t miss from a couple of yards out.

The Ruud van Nistelrooy impact already…

  • 18 – GOAL!! Wolves 1-3 BOURNEMOUTH

JUSTIN KLUIVERT from the spot again and Bournemouth have three already.

In truth, they probably could have a couple more too. Gary O’Neil needs to change something and FAST.

This one is a real mess as Wolves try to play out from the back but Jose Sa is charged down by Evanilson who has been sprinting around from the first second.

He’s brought down, VAR called the ref over to check and he needed one look.

Kluivert this time putting more power on it, beating Sa for power as the keeper went the right way.

  • PENALTY BOURNEMOUTH!

A chance to go 3-1 up after a quarter of an hour…

  • VAR CHECK AT MOLINEUX

    It’s for another Bournemouth penalty….

  • 8 – GOAL!! Wolves 1-2 BOURNEMOUTH

What a terrific start at Molineux!

Christie and Evanilson combine superbly after a high press sees Bournemouth win the ball back.

It’s worked out to the left and MILOS KERKEZ makes an overlapping run into the box before firing low at goal.

It looks like it’s taken quick a deflection but by the look on his face, he could not care one jot.

    Some start!

  • Elsewhere

No, it’s not just Molineux we’re covering.

But there’s not too much happening elsewhere at the minute.

  • 5 – GOAL!! WOLVES 1-1 Bournemouth

What a fantastic response from Wolves, just seconds after going behind.

Matheus Cunha drives through the middle of the park before feeding Bellegarde out on the right.

He whips a terrific ball into the box where JORGEN STRAND LARSEN finds himself all alone, 10 yards out and powers a header beyond the keeper. Some start!

  • 3 – GOAL!! Wolves 0-1 BOURNEMOUTH

Toti Gomes brings down Evanilson and it’s a Bournemouth spot kick.

VAR checking for offside, handballs, the lot.

JUSTIN KLUIVERT with the coolest of penalty finishes, just clipping it into the back of the net. Stunning start!

  • Penalty Bournemouth!

VAR are checking it but it looks like a great chance for the Cherries at Wolves early on!

  • KICK OFF!

    Premier League Saturday is underway!

    • Brentford v Leicester
    • Crystal Palace v Newcastle
    • Nottingham Forest v Ipswich
    • Wolves v Bournemouth
  • Here they come

The teams on their way out across the four Premier League grounds.

Every chance it could be filled with goals here, there’s definitely some goals in these attacks.

And excitingly, plenty of goals against them too.

Putting my neck on the line here – there will be 15+ across these four games.

  • From Graeme Bryce at the City Ground

Forest have slipped from the heady heights of third place with back-to-back defeats.

But with Elliot Anderson and talismanic skipper Morgan Gibbs-White back they look a formidable side again and will be looking to get back on track here.

Meanwhile Ipswich arrive at the City Ground buoyed by last week’s draw with Manchester United, determined to go one better here.

Kieran McKenna’s men are looking to stretch their unbeaten run to four games.

It promises to be a belter.

  • In place

Here’s Ruud van Nistelrooy arriving at Brentford a short time ago, ready to take in this afternoon’s game.

He looked pretty relaxed and even time to stop for some pictures.

  • Double trouble

Eddie Howe has opted to start with Bruno G and Sandro Tonali in the Newcastle midfield today.

It’s been a real conundrum trying to get very good players to play in the same midfield but Howe reckons it’s something he has to work out.

He said: “Of course they can, they are two outstanding players.

“It’s up to me to try and find a solution that works for both players and sees their qualities within the team.

“I think that you can put any player into the team, and any combination of players in the team, but it’s got to be to the team’s benefit.

“It’s got to be right for both players to showcase their attributes and hopefully we can do that.”

  • ‘Surprise appointment’

Leicester’s appointment of Ruud van Nistelrooy is a surprising one.

That’s the view of Chris Sutton, who claims the ‘rookie’ coming in is a big call by the Foxes.

He told 5 Live: “First of all I think it’s very harsh on Steve Cooper 12 Premier League games in. The decision makers at the start of the season went with Steve Cooper and all of a sudden after 12 games – they haven’t had a poor start to the season, I think they’ve done OK.

“It’s a big call because in terms of a manager he’s a bit of a rookie so I’m a little bit surprised by the appointment.”

  • View from SunSport’s Justin Allen at Selhurst Park

Eddie Howe will be hoping to mark turning 47 yesterday by taking all three points from Newcastle’s trip to Selhurst Park.

But the Toon boss is still smarting from the 2-0 loss at home to West Ham at St James’ Park on Monday night.

Sandro Tonali is back in the Newcastle team, replacing Sean Longstaff, while Dan Burn is in for Lloyd Kelly after a one-game ban.

Meanwhile, Palace chief Oliver Glasner is hoping to end a three-game winless streak and climb out of the bottom three.

He has also made two switches to the team — with Eberechi Eze back after a month out with a hamstring injury – and Jefferson Lerma also comes in with Justin Devenny and Cheick Doucoure on the bench.

It’s reasonably mild here in South London for what should be a fascinating game.

  • Attack like Wolves

Ahead of this afternoon’s clash, Gary O’Neil has praised his Wolves side’s attacking intent so far this season, he said: “I am proud that the amount of goals that we’ve scored since I’ve been here has been a massive upturn in what the club has been able to produce from recent years.

“I think that was something that the club needed. It was a long time that the club went without scoring a lot of goals, but of course this year we’ve undoubtedly leaked too many.

“I do want the team to be entertaining. I want the team to enjoy playing.

“I want the fans to enjoy watching them, and I want to be able to see my team and my style, but I don’t want to concede as many goals as we have, obviously.”

  • Van Nistelrooy appointed Leicester boss

Last night, Ruud van Nistelrooy was appointed the new manager of Leicester City.

The Dutchman, 48, has made a quick return to management after working as Manchester United’s caretaker boss following Erik ten Hag’s dismissal.

Van Nistelrooy succeeds Steve Cooper as Foxes manager after the former Nottingham Forest boss received the axe following a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea.

The Man Utd legend will be in the stands for their game against Brentford this afternoon, meaning his first match in charge will be against West Ham on Tuesday.

  • Toon looking to bounce back

Newcastle will be hoping to get back to winning ways as they make the long trip to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace.

The Toon fell to a shock 2-0 home defeat to struggling West Ham on Monday night.

Eddie Howe’s men had the majority of possession but failed to break a stubborn Hammers defence, an issue they have become accustomed to this season.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace have won just one of their opening 12 games this season.

The Eagles have struggled to replicate the strong end to last campaign under Oliver Glasner.

  • More VAR controversy last night

On Friday night, Brighton drew 1-1 with rivals Southampton – but the match was clouded with controversy.

Saints boss Russell Martin was left seething after the visitors were denied only a second win of the season as VAR caused chaos once again.

Southampton were in dreamland when Cameron Archer looked as though he had slotted home a 67th-minute winner to finally provide the club with a glimmer of hope.

It came after Flynn Downes had cancelled out Kaoru Mitoma’s opener for the high-flying Seagulls, who had the prospect of soaring into the heady heights of second-place in the table with a draw or a win.

But you can always rely on VAR to inflict more misery on a Southampton side who look all but down before the advent calendars have been opened.

A lengthy check by VAR ref Jarred Gillet,t which involved lots of zooming in and out and lines resulted in the goal being chalked off for offside, leaving Martin and co gobsmacked.

It was ruled out not because Archer was offside but because Adam Armstrong was offside and deemed to be interfering with play as the cross came in.

The cameras panned to Martin, who was effing and blinding on the touchline with Saints rock bottom of the table.

He continued his fury after the full-time whistle when he had angry words with Brighton gaffer Fabian Hurzeler.
