THRIFTING can often be hit or miss but one shopper bested their bargain store with huge deals thanks to their designer brand knowledge.

With her tip, she was able to score better deals on high-end styles over more well-known labels.

Fashion enthusiast Cam (@cams_travelling_wardrobe) often strikes out when it comes to bargain-hunting for well-known brands.

She first noticed the issue with the prices at her Value Village location, which she felt were “outrageous.”

A bit more sleuthing led her to deduce that thrift store employees were marking up popular brands.

Although a Chanel bag she had spotted was an obvious fake with a loose label tag, she was appalled by its hefty $40 price tag.

She quickly realized the same theory translated to more expensive but well-recognized fast fashion brands, like Aritzia’s house brand, DNA.

On the flip side, she was able to find brands that were more obscure but still desirable, for cheap.

Utilizing her fashion knowledge, she spotted pieces from Revolve, a Lancel bag, and even $10.49 Acne jeans that normally went for $550.

Acne Studios’ pieces, a luxury fashion house, normally retail for hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars.

I found a suit with an iconic brand at my favorite Goodwill for 10 bucks – the purple label meant it was worth $4,000

The key to thrifting, she explained, was not giving up and looking for items that may fly under the radar to thrift store employees.

“You need to be smarter than Value Village and this is where you can find a deal,” she said.

Thanks to her shopping epiphany, although she had initially entered the store with low hopes, she was pleasantly surprised with a full cart.

Cam walked away with a great haul by being diligent and keeping a positive mindset.

Frequent thrifters thought her discovery proved to be true in their personal experience.

One viewer was horrified when she browsed the over-priced selection at the same location.

“Omg I was at this exact thrift store the other day and there was a Tommy jacket for $40,” she said.

Some agreed that thrift store pricing practices were maddening.

“This p*sses me off so bad,” said one viewer.
